Poetry 157: Melting Point

Melting Point

Cookies crumble

And milk spoils

Candles can melt

And rain falls

When dreams crumble

What do you do

What options are open

Which madness can you undo

When plans are spoiled

One often retraces

Steps that have caused

Failures and disgraces

Hope can melt

Like vanilla ice cream

On a hot summer day

From humidity and steam

But when one falls

It’s a noble reminder

To pick yourself up

And keep going with fervor
