Poetry 165: The City Is Not Safe

The shadow has returned
And it’s not backing down
Its dark tentacles can rip
And tear your skin apart

Beware of its piercing eyes
They hypnotize and lure you in
Like a black hole and its gravity
It sucks you in till it’s too late to escape

Beware of its sting
For it will eat you alive from within
Its poison lingers
And its bite will hurt like no other

So run as fast as you can
And leave your fears behind
Don’t let the dark touch your soul
For if it does, you’re doomed to fall

The city is not safe
For many, there will be no escape…
