Poetry 148: Subway Dreams

Subway Dreams
by Aidenn A. Spelling

I walk to the station each day
Six tree-lined blocks from my house
And wait for the train to arrive
An hour long trek to the city hive

I choose an empty corner seat
And listen to my fav’rite beat
To relax and to meditate
To rest and to contemplate

I close my eyes slowly
And take a deep, deep breath
Wond’ring when I will get there
Wond’ring if I will make it anywhere

And then I dream, dream, dream
Fantastic dreams, dreams, dreams
Of what I can do with my life
Of where I can go with no strife

The music lifts me up
The rhythm makes me smile
The beats make my heart thump
Higher is better so I better jump

And then I dream, dream, dream
Fantastic dreams, dreams, dreams
Of what I can do with my life
Of reaching new heights…if only I could fly

THE END
