Poetry 111: Across the Ocean (Chapter One)

Across the Ocean (Chapter One)
by Aidenn A. Spelling

Eight thousand miles away
In a place where bamboos sway
Live three happy people
Peaceful, kind, and noble

They go about their daily lives
They love to plant things that thrive
They make extraordinary meals
Even give the dogs the same deal

They don’t mind the humid weather
No need to wear a heavy sweater
But be sure to have raincoats
Or umbrellas for the rain soaks

Though heat in summer is brutal
The seas offer refuge, need no approval
Only thing that’s missing, you see
Is one son who lives across the sea
