Poetry 133: If I Had a Time Machine

If I Had a Time Machine
by Aidenn A. Spelling

If I had a time machine
I would travel back in time
Find myself a magic bean
And plant it in a patch of thyme

I’d search for golden eggs
And hear the singing harps
Gorge on giant turkey legs
And steal some silky scarves

If I had a time machine
I’d travel to the distant future
Explore what I can’t imagine
And learn from strange new creatures

I’d search for my old house
Because I am sentimental like that
I’d search for my heirs and browse
And mingle without engaging in a spat

I’d travel back and forth
Compare what’s good and bad
I’d travel all over the world
And change all that is sad

If only I had a time machine…
